We wish Bob Gaudio a Happy 65th Birthday today!!

On November 17, 1942, original Four Seasons member Bob Gaudio was born. He shot to musical fame at the age of 15 as a member of the Royal Teens when he wrote the hit “Short Shorts.” As we all know from Jersey Boys, following a chance meeting organized by Joe Pesci, Gaudio teamed up with Frankie Valli, Tommy DeVito, and Nick Massi, all from Newark, New Jersey, forming the group that eventually became the Four Seasons.

In addition to playing keyboards, recording and co-writing megahits as a member of the Four Seasons, Gaudio has produced six complete albums for Neil Diamond, as well as movie soundtracks for “The Jazz Singer” and “Little Shop of Horrors.” He has also written and/or produced for Frank Sinatra, Roberta Flack, Diana Ross, Michael Jackson, and Barry Manilow.

Along with being one of the driving forces in launching Jersey Boys, Gaudio produced the 2005 Original Cast Recording, which won the 2007 Grammy for Best Musical Show Album!

On a personal note–Bob, it was a thrill of a lifetime to meet you at the JB BC/EFA event last month! Wow! Thank you bringing us the greatest music for all these decades–from “Short Shorts” to “Romancing the ’60s”!

  4. Bob, years ago, at the height of the Four Seasons popularity, it was my pleasure to meet your cousin, Maureen Gaudio. Never would I have imagined the genuine article would enter my life during 2007.

I applaud your work, your Tony, and your Grammy this past year. So glad you’ve been finally recognized while you’re still young and active.

I’ve also had the privilege of meeting your lovely wife this past year too, and Judy Parker Gaudio, thank you for your supporting Bob, and for the wonderful classic, “Oh, What a Night!”

Have a wonderful day and a wonderful year, Bob.

  5. Happy Birthday, Mr. Gaudio!

It is great to see that, although many of us here knew your name well in the 1960s, you are now becoming a household name and finally getting the highest level of respect you always deserved!

  6. Happy Birthday, Bob Gaudio! I had the pleasure of meeting you on your birthday two years ago at Tower Records. You were the first one to sign my CD that evening, and I remember how kind you were to your starstruck fans. I also had the privilege to meet you backstage at JB, and you and your lovely wife, Judy, posed for pictures with my husband and me outside the theatre. Last month at the BC/EFA event, you recognized the earlier pictures I had taken and struck up a conversation. I’ve always said the Broadway cast of Jersey boys are the most talented and truly nicest actors I’ve met…maybe they are just trying to emulate the character of the original Four Seasons! You’ve certainly been a role model & your support of JB, and the indivdual shows and cabaret performances of its cast members continues to thrill JB & Four Seasons fans alike. Happy birthday…and thanks for many happy memories! Lulu Thompson

  7. Dear Mr. Gaudio,

I just wanted to extend my best wishes to you for a most happy birthday. I’ve been a huge fan of Frankie Valli and The 4 Seasons since the early ’70′s, and although I missed out on seeing you perform live with the group, I always realized by the songwriting and producing credits the large role you played in the success of this legendary musical act. It’s just amazing to realize that you and the rest of The 4 Seasons have been immortalized by becoming characters in a smash hit Broadway show (in addition to the current national touring companies and future international productions). It’s gratifying to see you getting the recognition you so rightfully deserve for all your fine contributions to the music and entertainment industries.

May you enjoy further creative successes and may your musical legacy live on forever!
