JB Gypsy of the Year Auction Update

November 7th, 2006

Playbill.com’s Ernio Hernandez reports that the annual Gypsy of the Year competition heats up as Broadway shows spend six weeks trying to raise the most money in donations with post-show auctions. This year’s ceremony will take place on December 4 and 5 at the Neil Simon Theatre.

The reigning Tony Award-winning Best Musical, Jersey Boys, are banking on their Four Seasons fans to outbid each other on coasters, holiday ornaments and clocks made from old 45 RPM records of songs by Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. The wardrobe department has also created “Rag Doll”s of each member from pieces of costumes worn in the show.

Tickets for the annual “Gypsy of the Year” event are available by calling (212) 840-0770. For further information, visit the Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS website: www.bcefa.org.
