As we’ve said before, no show out there has hooked the fans quite like Jersey Boys! We’re delighted to present the 17th JBB Fantastic Fan Interview with Erin Geoffroy who hails from Massachusetts. Erin chats about how she became interested in Jersey Boys; what makes the show so appealing to her; how much fun she’s had chatting with the cast; and how she has met new friends thanks to JB!

JBB: Tell us about yourself.

EG: I’m an 18-year-old senior in high school from Amherst, Massachusetts. In the fall I will be attending UMASS Amherst where I will major in political science. I am also a huge Broadway fan.

JBB: When did you first hear about Jersey Boys, and how did you become interested in the show?

EG: I was in New York for the BC/EFA flea market in 2005 and as my parents and I were leaving I saw a billboard for the show on 44th street. The first thing that went through my mind was ‘Oh boy, another jukebox musical?’ A few weeks after previews started, my mom heard from a few friends who had seen the show and they said they loved the show. Opening night came and I read a few of the critics’ reviews and it sparked my interest a bit more. A few weeks later my parents and I were in New York again and we got the cast recording of the show and I just fell in love with the CD and I’ve been hooked since.

JBB: What was your reaction the first time you saw the show?

EG: When I first saw the show I did student rush and it was freezing! But the wait for the show was so worth it. I saw Michael Longoria go on as Frankie and thought he was amazing and I thought the rest of the cast was great also.

JBB: How many times have you seen JB? What keeps bringing you back to the show & what makes you feel so connected to Jersey Boys?

EG Well I have only seen the show twice (November 2006 and April 2007) because I live in Mass, so it’s hard for me to get down to NYC. What brought me back to see the show was the music and the story of the show.The cast makes you feel connected to the show they are so sweet and will chat your ear off.

JBB: Who have you met from the Jersey Boys’ cast?

EG: I have I’ve met John Lloyd Young, J. Robert Spencer, Christian Hoff, Daniel Reichard, Michael Longoria and Jennifer Naimo. The cast is just so sweet and they are so easy to chat with. JLY however is just one of the sweetest guys I’ve ever met. One of my friends was able to get me to have a backstage tour with him and during the tour he and my mom talked about the Williamstown Theater Festival. My parents are still mentioning how nice he is. Also how often is it that you get a Christmas card from a Tony Award-winner?

JBB: What’s your favorite Jersey Boys scene and why?

EG: I love the shopping Jersey style scene. It’s just so funny. The first time I saw it I jumped out of my seat when the gunshot went off because it scared me I was also right under the speaker so it was extra loud. The second time around I saw the show I knew the gunshot was coming but it still scared me when it went off.

JBB: What about your favorite musical number in Jersey Boys?

EG: It’s a tie between “Dawn” and “Can’t Take my Eyes Off You.” I love the build-up to “Can’t Take my Eyes Off You. ”

JBB: Do you have a favorite line from the show?

EG: “It’s says this is who I am. You don’t like you can go F%^& yourself!” I would have loved to use that as my yearbook quote but I’m pretty sure the school wouldn’t allow me to use it.

JBB: Prior to seeing Jersey Boys, were you familiar with the Four Seasons’ music?

EG: I knew some of their songs but I never knew The Four Seasons sang them until a few years ago when I was listening to XM radio and they were doing a program about them. But the songs I knew were “Big Girls Don’t Cry,” “Walk like a Man,” and “December 1963.”

JBB: Anything else you’d like to share about Jersey Boys?

EG: I have made several friends because of this show. On BroadwayWorld.com, there is a thread called the Official John Lloyd Young love thread. I’ve been posting there for over a year and because of that thread I have several new online buddies. If you do read the thread we tend to go off topic a bit almost every day but that is how we learn about each other. We’re always looking for new posters so if you want to join we would love it!
