Jersey Boys Marks 100th Broadway Performance February 1
January 31st, 2006Broadwayworld.com reports that Broadway’s smash hit musical, Jersey Boys will celebrate their 100th performance tomorrow evening, February 1.
The book, written by Marshall Bricman and Rick Elice, chronicles the lives of a group of blue-collar boys from the wrong side of the tracks who, as Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, became one of the biggest American pop music sensations of all time. Director Des McAnuff staged the debut of Jersey Boys at La Jolla Playhouse in San Diego in 2004-05, where the show earned the honor of being the most successful in the theater’s history and was extended three times. Since opening November 6, Jersey Boys has received rave reviews from both critics and audiences alike, in addition to breaking house records at the August Wilson Theater.
Jersey Boys stars Christian Hoff as Tommy DeVito; Daniel Reichard as Bob Gaudio; J. Robert Spencer as Nick Massi, and John Lloyd Young as Frankie Valli. While Hoff and Reichard have been on Broadway in previous productions (Hoff, in The Who’s Tommy; Spencer in Side Show), this marks Reichard and Young’s Broadway debuts.
