Jersey Boys Offers Powerful & Polished Production in Philly!

October 3rd, 2010

The first review of the JERSEY BOYS national tour production at the Forrest Theatre in Philadelphia has been posted by Myra Yellin Outwater in The Morning Call and it’s a winner! Her’s a preview:

“Jersey Boys,” now electrifying audiences at Philadelphia’s Forrest Theatre, is an extraordinarily polished production. From its opening moments, this musical about 1960s crooner Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons dazzles and delights with its engaging, incredibly talented cast, its complex staging, its visual detail and its non-stop energy.

Tony Award-winning director Des McAnuff and Tony Award-winning choregrapher Sergio Trujillo have put together a show that is full of rocking music, graceful dance steps, engrossing visual details, neon overhead lighting effects and heart.

I saw the show when it first opened almost five years ago on Broadway and loved it then. But this time around, I enjoyed it even more and appreciated its stylish staging, its flexible set, and Trujillo’s style of “stage moves.” The four leads move and dance in synchrony, in a macho style of dancing that is so seductive you cant take your eyes off them.

  2. My husband and I went to opening night and Oh What A Night it was…this was the best show I have seen. The singing and performing was excellent. It made you laugh out loud, cry and sing along. Hope to be able to go and see it again.
