Jersey Boys–’Real Theatrical Genius’ at Curran!

March 14th, 2013

San Francisco Chronicle’s Chad Jones states that JERSEY BOYS is worth a booking at the Curran Theatre. Below is a preview of his review:

Because “Jersey Boys” is so well made, it operates like a finely tuned machine without ever feeling less than human – no small achievement for a show that’s been on the road since 2006.

“Jersey Boys” is a musical engineered to make audiences happy without resorting to cheap sentiment. Mixed in with all the rough New Jersey language, the mobsters and the irresistible pop songs, there’s real theatrical genius in the telling of an endearing story you didn’t know you wanted to hear.

  1. What an intelligent and beautifully written review, without a lot of fluff. How Elice and Brickman didn’t win for Best Book remains a mystery, but then history has a way of clearing those things up.
