Jersey Boys Remains in the Millionaires’ Club on Broadway

September 10th, 2008

Although Broadway grosses saw major dips last week, Jersey Boys was one of only two shows on the boards that remained in the millionaires’ club, grossing $1,043,538 (and a 95.7% attendance rate) for the week ending September 7, 2008.

Variety.com
reports that Broadway grosses took a significant tumble last week with the exit of Labor Day weekend tourists, the return of students to school after summer break and the tail end of hurricane weather, which whipped New York over the weekend, bringing heavy rain and flood warnings. Those factors spelled bad news at the box office, where grosses plummeted by almost $4 million from the previous week to tally $13,119,538 for the 25 shows on the boards.

Below are the Top 10 Grosses from BroadwayWorld.com for the week ending September 7, 2008.

  1. Wicked $1,351,513
  2. Jersey Boys $1,043,538
  3. The Lion King $991,099
  4. Mama Mia! $926,839

  1. Still pretty amazing considering the other shows have a larger seating capacity than JB. Proud to have seen it twice last week. :)
