Jersey Girls Take On Mutiple Roles!

October 7th, 2007

Misha Davenport of the Chicago Sun-Times states that behind every good Jersey Boy stand a lot of good Jersey girls. In fact, there are three talented, busy actresses that take on the show’s 60 female roles.

Jenny Lee Ramos plays Frankie Valli’s first wife, Mary Delgado. And others. Lauren Marshall plays Valli’s second-act girlfriend Lorraine and others. Lyndsey Cole plays Valli’s rebellious daughter Francine and others. Just how many is “others”? Between 15 and 20 different roles each. You could call the ladies the unsung heroes of the hit musical. Except, of course, that they actually do sing.

“It’s funny. When you tell people you’re in ‘Jersey Boys,’ they don’t believe there are any girls in it,” says Cole. “And then, when you see them at the stage door, they always tell us that they didn’t realize it was three women covering all the female roles until the curtain call.”

As Valli’s first wife, Mary Delgado, Ramos is the one through-line in the show and as a result, spends most of her on-stage time as that character. When asked how many other roles she plays, she counts the number of shoes she wears in the show.

“I have 15 different pair of shoes, so I guess it’s 15,” she says with a laugh.

If you think memorizing 20 or so parts is hard, a round of applause for Kara Tremel. Tremel is dance captain and swing in the production. As swing, she can be called on with little or no notice to cover any of the 60 women’s parts.

  1. We have the best Jersey Girls ever! Jenny, Lauren, Lyndsey, and Kara are INCREDIBLE! Even after seeing them do their tracks multiple times, I still can’t believe how focused they are. Between Jenny’s change from Angel to Mary; Lauren’s ability to belt “My Boyfriend’s Back” after “Oh, What A Night;” and Lyndsey’s unforgettable track of characters from “I wanna see the Blob” to “Whadaya call it? Chinese twins.” These girls are amazing! I adore Kara as well! Keep up the great work girls! Personally, I really appreciate it!
