Rosemary Ford states that Frankie Valli is a living legend. So it wasn’t without some trepidation that Joseph Leo Bwarie took on the role of one of rock ‘n’ roll’s most famous falsettos in the critically acclaimed national tour of the Broadway musical, “Jersey Boys.”

As audiences will see when the show pulls into Boston next week for a two-month run, the actor who has been seen in everything from “Highway to Heaven,” to “Batman Returns,” and more recently “Race to Witch Mountain,” isn’t sorry about taking on the challenge.

“It’s everything you would imagine,” said the 31-year-old Bwarie in a phone interview. “On many levels, it’s an amazing job. It’s an amazing role in theater, I am not even going to call it musical theater, just theater.”

Why just theater? Bwarie says the show is just that good.

“I mean that it’s real,” said the actor, who originated the role of Chachi in “Happy Days: A New Musical.” “It’s well written, brilliantly directed. It won the 2006 Tony Award for a very good reason.”
