Newsflash: John Lloyd Young to Play Marius in Les Miserables at Hollywood Bowl!
April 21st, 2008Newsflash: BroadwayWorld.com reports that Les Miserables at the The Hollywood Bowl has completed casting, and in the plum role of Marius will be Tony-winner John Lloyd Young!
The rest of the principal cast, previously announced by the The Hollywood Bowl press office are: Rosie O’Donnell (Madame Thenardier), Lea Michele (Eponine), Brian Stokes Mitchell (Javert), J. Mark McVey (Jean Valjean), Melora Hardin (Fantine) and Aaron Lazar (Enjolras).
The director will be Richard Jay-Alexander, with Musical Director Kevin Stites, conducting The Hollywood Bowl Orchestra.
The three performances of Les Miserables will be Friday, August 8, 2008, 8:30 PM, Saturday, August 9, 2008, 8:30 PM and Sunday, August 10, 2008, 7:30 PM. Single tickets go on sale on May 10th. The forum is buzzing about this tidbit and I for one am totally thrilled for John. He is an amazing young talent and they needed to get him to Hollywood asap. I have been humming the songs since I read this tonite. Victor Hugo had the right idea.

How exciting for you, John! I saw Les Miserables last year in New York and enjoyed it (except I kept scaring the man next to me because I thoroughly jumped out of my seat at the sound of gunfire). Now the West coast will see what all the fuss is about when JLY comes to Hollywood! Congratulations!

Congratulations John!
You know the many times we spoke Joe asked you about Les Miserables and when it was going to become a movie. Joe always felt that if they were to make another movie version of Les Mis you would be perfect as Marius. Now a live performance at the Hollywood Bowl has been anounced and he gets to see one of his favorites shows and with you and Jenn in it.
This is going to be a special treat as we both love Les Miserables and have seen it just as many times as we have seen Jersey Boys.
John,you will make a great Marius and we look forward to seeing you in August.
