Q&A with Joseph Leo Bwarie in Dallas

August 4th, 2008

Check out BlahBlahBlahBlog.com for an interesting Q&A with Joseph Leo Bwarie! Here’s a short preview:

Jersey Boys isn’t your typical musical. It’s more of a “a play with a rock concert added in,” says Joseph Leo Bwarie, the 30-year-old actor who plays Frankie Valli in the national touring production of the Tony Winning show.

Q: Where’d you grow up?

A: I’m from Southern California. I grew up in the San Fernando Valley, pretty much was there my entire life and started working in the industry when I was eight-ish. I started out doing some session work, singing in studios. So I’ve been around a while, doin’ some singin’.

Q: Yeah, you’ve got impressive range. Have you ever considered a straight-up musical career?

A: Well … yeah … I mean, doesn’t everyone kind of want to be a pop star or a rock star? Music is the hardest business to get into. But I have a couple of friends out in L.A. who are jonesing to get me to throw some tracks down, whenever I get done with this. A lot of people come up to me after the show and say ‘you sound like Frankie or you sound like this guy or that guy. You should be on the radio.’ So that’s a very high compliment.

Q: And Jersey Boys gives you the chance to feel like a rock star, too.

A: You know what? It really does. It’s a huge catalogue of music that’s so popular. And what the writers do is insert a really fantastic book. So we call it a play with a rock concert added in.

  1. JLB and The Jersey Boys mesmerized me. Wish they’s come back to the ‘Burgh so I could see them over and over again! What talent!
