Reflections from JB National Tour’s Brandon Matthieus

January 24th, 2008

Jo-Carolyn Goode of Style Magazine has a terrific in-depth interview with Jersey Boys national tour cast member Brandon Matthieus, who portrays seven different characters which requires him to have seventeen different costume changes to display his various skills and talents. Brandon’s roles encompass everything from a rapper to a policeman who comes in contact with the talented foursome.

Brandon reflects on the popularity of Jersey Boys:

This music is so universal, and it is so well-loved that it is something to which everyone can relate from people of our grandparents’ generation to today’s generation, and it spans the racial spectrum as well because although the people who started it are Caucasians, artists on the music scene of today like Lauyrn Hill, have recreated some of their music. It’s universal and it tells a universal story that everyone, regardless of who they are, what they look like, where they come from, how much money they have in their pocket, or how much money their parents have in their pockets, can achieve greatness and can really make a huge difference in the world if they have the tenacity and determination to try and see it through. It is the whole backbone of why America is the way it is.

It is Brandon’s hope that the show might inspire someone else to achieve greatness.
