November 11th, 2011

Jersey Boys LogoFrom BroadwayWorld.com: On Monday, November 14 the stars of Broadway’s JERSEY BOYS will perform at the lighting of the UNICEF Snowflake at a special ceremony in front of the Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church in New York City, singing selections from the newly released holiday album, “Seasons Greetings: A Jersey Boys Christmas.” The lighting event will take place at the Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church, 55th Street and 5th Avenue at 6:30 PM.

Hanging above the intersection of 57th Street and Fifth Avenue, the giant UNICEF Snowflake features 16,000 Baccarat crystals and is a beloved holiday fixture of the New York City holiday season. Annually, the UNICEF Snowflake illuminates the intersection of 57th Street and Fifth Avenue as a reminder of UNICEF’s commitment to reach a day when zero children die from preventable causes.

Designed by Ingo Maurer, the ornament was dedicated to UNICEF in 2001 by the Stonbely Family Foundation. This year’s lighting ceremony will also serve as a celebration leading up to Universal Children’s Day, a U.N. designated day of activity and awareness devoted to the well-being of all children around the word, taking place on November 20.

UNICEF has saved more children’s lives than any other humanitarian organization in the world. Working in more than 150 countries, UNICEF provides children with health care, clean water, nutrition, education, emergency relief, and more. The U.S. Fund for UNICEF supports UNICEF’s work through fundraising, advocacy, and education in the United States.
