Tommy DeVito Will Ride in Grande Parade in PA Saturday

September 7th, 2006

Reporter Stephen Seeber of the Lititz Record Express notes that after flying high in the wake of four Tony Awards for the hit musical Jersey Boys, and the resulting resurgence of one of the greatest rock and roll groups of all time, Tommy DeVito of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons will be on the Clair Bros. float during Saturday’s Grande Parade.

DeVito is one of the founding members of the legendary pop group, which is now the subject of the hottest musical on Broadway. His relationship with Clair Bros., the internationally known audio firm with deep roots in Lititz, goes back 40 years to a small concert at Franklin and Marshall College.

“It was the group that started Clair Bros.,” Roy Clair recalled this week. “(The Four Seasons) was the first group to take us on the road with them, when we were absolutely nothing. The biggest show we probably did up until that time was a Fourth of July or something. We were local, that’s it.”

That was way back in 1966, when Clair Bros. provided the sound for a 3,000-seat venue eight miles south of their hometown. Forty years later, while that hometown is in the midst of its 250th anniversary, one of the original Four Seasons will fittingly be aboard the Clair Bros. float to help celebrate an anniversary within an anniversary.

  1. Having attended many a 4 Seasons’ concert during the second half of the ’60s I can attest to the fact that the concert sound was always impeccable. Frankie, Bob, Tommy, and Joe always came through clearly, vocally and instrumentally. The 4 Seasons’ concerts in the 1966 – 1970 time frame were probably their best. Thank you, Clair Bros. for your contributuion to many enjoyable concert experiences. Your subsequent success is well deserved.
