Friday Flashback: The Four Seasons Performing ‘Working My Way Back To You’ on Hullabaloo

June 17th, 2011

In this video, The Four Seasons: Bob Gaudio, Tommy DeVito, Joe Long, and Frankie Valli, are performing “Working My Way Back to You” on “Hullabaloo.” This song, written by Sandy Linzer and Denny Randell, peaked at #9 in the spring of 1966 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Trivia question: What R&B vocal group released a remake of “Working My Way Back To You” (as a medley with “Forgive Me Girl”) that peaked at #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in early 1980?

  1. The Spinners in a great cover – like it a lot.

  2. I also like the Spinners’ cover David. I think the medley part was added to make the song a little longer, more in line with circa 1980 singles.

My other Spinners favorites include “It’s A Shame” and “How Could I Let You Get Away”.

If you like the Spinners cover of WMWBTY, I also recommend the Linzer/Randell/Calello production and arrangement of “Let’s Hang On” by The Bandwagon, if you can find it.
