  3. “It’s nice to be important, but it’s more important to be nice” is an overused cliche, and we’ve all heard it many times, John, but I can think of nobody it describes better than you.

Two incidents over the past few months come to mind. As you were posing for photographers at a Sunday evening event, you saw me out of the corner of your eye. Along with the megawatt smile, you actually stopped the shoot for a few seconds to step forward and personally greet me!

Second, last month I was chatting amiably with Chris Jones (“Frankie” in the National Tour and also a wonderful role model) when your name came up. Chris turned deadly serious, looked me straight in the eye, and said (paraphrasing), “I have huge admiration for John. If it weren’t for John’s efforts, I might not even have a job right now!”

“It’s a wonderful world”, John. Have a great birthday, and I’ll be listening tonight! Many more!

Howard, for anyone who has never met John, your words above tell them exactly what kind of person he is. One of the nicest people I have ever met in the world of entertainment. Enjoy your day John & the time you have off. Hope to see you on stage again soon.

  9. HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOHN
I hope you didn’t get too wet in London and I hope the cards that I sent were useful, however with all that rain I don’t know how many walking tours you could have taken. I hope that you and Alison had a wonderful vacation and come home safe with lots of memories. I can’t wait to hear your redition of What a Wonderful World. May you always remain as nice as you are and hope the coming year all your dreams come true. I thank you for the time my daughter Laurie and I got to spend with you when visiting from California. You have the best birthday ever. All My Love to you and Alison

  10. Happy Birthday John. Thank you for all the great memories and laughs that you have given me and my mother the past year and a half. I don’t believe I will ever get to know an actor with as much determination, heart, and kindness as you. I sincerely hope you are having a magnificiently wonderful vacation with Alison. You two definitely deserve it. I will be watching the Macy’s Fireworks tonight.

  11. Happy Birthday John! It’s great knowing such a talented and down-to-earth actor. My son is using the advice both you and Christian gave him, and his career is definitely starting out great at his High School!

You are an inspiration to all of the people you’ve touched with your kindness and we are totally blessed to be able to correspond with you in person and via e-mail. Thanks for sharing your talent with the World!

  14. Oh John…What an awesome rendition of “What a Wonderful World!” Your voice was beautiful. The girls thoroughly enjoyed it & “watching” the fireworks on TV, as the rain kept us away…

Hope you had the best birthday abroad.

All our best for a fabulous year ahead!

    love,

  16. Happy birthday, John! I saw and heard you sing “What a Wonderful World” at Carnegie Hall this spring. What a great choice for the fireworks from Macy’s! Personally I think the JB performance at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in 2005 certainly gave a face and voice to all the JB Broadway buzz about your show, and helped propel it to be the blockbuster that it continues to be to this day. I remember going online to buy tickets after that televised performance and suddenly finding sold out shows for quite sometime! Now, it’s nearly impossible…but well worth the wait! Happy holiday, happy birthday!

  17. Happy Birthday, John! A little late but still wishing you all the happiness and success in this wonderful world of ours. I agree with many of the other JB fans although I’ve never met you, you seem like a very kind person and I know you’re very talented! A wonderful world indeed, because you’re in it!!! Happy Birthday!

I know I’m a week late, I just got back from vacation and Joe and I wanted to wish you a Happy Birthday.
We hope it was a good one and may you have many many happy ones and your future filled with all the best life has to offer. You are truly blessed as a gifted actor, more important as a genuinely nice person. Thanks for all your kindness that you have shown me throughout the years.
