J. Robert Spencer’s Tony Awards Performance with ‘Next to Normal’ Cast!

June 10th, 2009

Sunday evening was an extraordinarily special Tony Awards for all JERSEY BOYS fans! Not only did we see five North American Frankie Valli’s and JB cast members’ spectacular performance, but we also saw Tony Award-nominated J. Robert Spencer’s tremendous performance with his castmates from Next To Normal!

Congratulations to Bobby!

  1. If you listen carefully, you can hear the “entrance applause” from Bobby’s fans in the audience as he starts to sing. I am so happy his wonderful voice is evident here for all to hear. It’s a wonderful production, and of course Tony winner Alice Ripley and Aaron Tveit as their son are also exceptional.

Also, did everyone see how Bobby proudly flashed the pictures of his children Geddy and Raine to the camera as his nomination was announced for Best Leading Actor?

  2. It was a wonderful performance! And I really enjoyed the close-ups on TV…Bobby showed so much feeling and emotion in his voice and it was evident on his face as well. Nice, smiling close-up in the opening number also. Well deserved nomination! He and his wife looked very happy… it looks like they are enjoying the success of N2N. He continues to be as gracious offstage as he was at the stagedoor of the August Wilson.

  4. As we watched from Georgia, the performance of the cast from Next to Normal was the highlight of the evening…as well as Jersey Boys. Bobby was amazing! Anyone who has not seen this wonderful production yet, needs to get out there and see it. I definitely will be going back on my next NY trip.
