JERSEY BOYS national tour is playing Boise, Idaho at the Morrison Center tonight through Sunday, 12/7. Dana Oland of the Idaho Statesman has a terrific interview with Hayden Milanes. Check out a preview below:

Milanes shares the Valli role with an alternate, Shaun Taylor-Corbett. On his show days, Milanes keeps it low key. He eats clean – that means little or no dairy – gets plenty of rest and works to stay healthy, he says. That’s the best way to ensure consistency.

“You have to know you can hit it out of the park every night,” he says. “We have 2,000 people each night who are expecting me to sound like Frankie Valli.

That’s not an easy mantle to carry.

“When I go out there playing Frankie, the attention and recognition is for him,” Milanes says. “I’m playing a guy who has made a great name for himself and they’re applauding me, but it is really borrowed glory. The reality is people come to see Frankie, not me.”

It’s a bit daunting and humbling, he says: “It helps me keep my ego in check.”
