What Does It Take To Be the Next Frankie Valli? Open Auditions in JB Australia!

January 20th, 2011

Frankie Valli

The official JERSEY BOYS Australia website has posted that they are holding open calls for the 2-show Frankie Valli in various cities in Australia.

What does it take to be the “kid who sings like an angel”? Check out the requirements & preparation:

REQUIREMENTS
Character: Frankie Valli (2 performances a week)
Age: 20s-early 30s
Height: Must be 175cm (5’9″) or shorter. If you are taller than this please do not register as you will not be seen at the auditions.
Vocal requirements: Must have strong tenor with sweet and strong falsetto and be able to sing in the style of Frankie Valli. Strong tenor to high A or Bb plus strong falsetto up to treble G. Must be very comfortable with traditional four-part harmonies.
Details: Must be a very strong actor (comfortable with narrative text) and have gritty side as well a polished veneer. Good mover.

PREPARATION & AUDITION

You will be required to sing one song from the era (60′s or 70′s) in a similar style to the Four Seasons, but not one of their songs. Please provide piano/vocal sheet music in the correct key for you. There are a number of digital download sites where you can obtain sheet music from. It is helpful if you have your music in a folder, or taped together, if possible.

  • You may be asked to read part of a speech (see link) and you may be required to participate in a group dance audition (please come with water, a towel, and a change of clothes for a dance call if required).
  • If you are successful in the first round you should make yourself available to be called back for further auditions either the same day or next. You will be given special material to prepare for your next audition.
  • Please come appropriately dressed—smart pants, shirt and tie—or suit.
  • You will be required to bring a Performance CV and headshot to the audition.
  • Audition times and venues will be emailed to you approximately two days prior to the scheduled date in your city.

Wonder who will be the lucky guy?!
