Jersey Boys National Tour & Chicago Companies Among Top Fundraisers for BC/EFA Gypsy Competition!
December 8th, 2009Update from BroadwayWorld.com: The 21st Annual GYPSY OF THE YEAR COMPETITION announced an all time record total of $4,630,695 had been raised by the 60 participating Broadway, Off-Broadway, and National Tour companies to benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. This year’s total breaks the previous record when $3,927,000 was raised for the 2007 GYPSY OF THE YEAR COMPETITION.
JERSEY BOYS National Tour and Chicago Companies did a phenomenal fundraising job this year! Of all tours, JERSEY BOYS Chicago was the third runner-up, raising $190,466 and the JB National tour was second runner-up, raising $225,225 for BC/EFA. Congratulations to both companies!
Jersey Boys Broadway cast members Russell Fischer and Taylor Sternberg offering a smoky, jazz infused, spoken word rendition of classic Broadway tunes ala William Shatner.
That’s pretty awesome! I don’t think I donated this year to them specifically, since I didn’t see the show during the collection time, but I did donate at Young Frankenstein when I saw it. It all goes to the same cause….so I made my contribution.

That’s fantastic! There was a big push for donations at the shows I’ve attended in DC, with cast members collecting money after the shows. I was more than happy to add my donations to the buckets held by Joe Bwarie, Jonathan Hadley, and Courter Simmons!
