Breaking News: Jersey Boys Breaks August Wilson House Record—AGAIN!!

December 28th, 2005

According to Variety’s Gordon Cox, fall hit Jersey Boys was one of the few shows to beat the Christmas slump, climbing $90,000 to $895,865 to break the August Wilson house record yet again. reports that since opening to rave reviews, the smash hit has grossed $7,299,716.

  1. Jersey Boys is now the fifth highest grossing show on Broadway, and it has surpassed Mamma Mia as the top jukebox musical. That’s pretty impressive, considering that 2005 is the highest grossing year in Broadway history.
Susie, you are doing a fabulous job with this blog, and I hope you can stick with it until it gets the devoted following it deserves. I’m also enjoying your forays onto the theater message boards, you “rebel” you. Regards, Charles

  2. Charles,
You’re right, it is truly impressive (but maybe no surprise to us, right?) that Jersey Boys is the fifth highest grossing musical on Broadway!

Thanks so much for your comments on the blog! With so mamy people enjoying the show (and a few “rebel” comments out there on message boards), I’m hoping we’ll get lots of visitors in the weeks to come.
