Throwback Thursday: The 4 Seasons Vee-Jay EP Photo,1963! #tbt

May 8th, 2014

Does anyone remember seeing this 4 Seasons’ photo before? Thanks to the GILG Four Seasons discography, I found out that this photo was on the Vee-Jay EPS 902 4-song EP that was released in 1963.

  1. VJ took this photo from the “Big Girls Don’t Cry” lp from 1962/3.

    I had this 45…wish I still did.

A little rare that a major pop group would do this, but I think it was released after the record company and the boys parted company and VJ wanted something out there no matter how old…not totally sure.

The Beach Boys did the same thing some months later but their 4 song 45 was a newer release.

  2. It is actually from the very first Seasons’ album I ever received, The “Big Girls Don’t Cry” and 12 others album back in 1963. The color of the original album was blue not back.

  5. This is Vee-Jay EPS 902. Vee-Jay EPS 901 is cover of the “Sherry” (and 11 others album) and contains “I Can’t Give You Anything But Love,” “Never on Sunday,” “La Dee Dah,” and “Peanuts” from that album.

  6. You are so right Jerry, the back drop of this album was not black it was blue. The color of the suits that the 4S-JB’s were wearing. Is that blend or what?
    Great! album.

  7. I will be seeing Jersey Boys this week end, and it will be emotional. My father was Randy Wood, President of Vee Jay Records, during the Frankie Valle/Big Girls Don’t Cry/Sherry era, and Frankie was at our house constantly. Although I haven’t seen him in years, he is still “Uncle Frankie”.
