#FlashbackFriday: @frankievalli & The Four Seasons Rehearsing Hickory in the Recording Studio, November 1973!

March 4th, 2016

Thanks to this video posted on the Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons Memorabilia Facebook page, you can listen to the group (and others–maybe Bob Crewe or Charlie Callello?) in the studio during a rehearsal for the awesome song written by Crewe & Kenny Nolan, “Hickory” recorded on the Motown label! The banter among the guys and the vocal talents are priceless!

  1. This is fantastic. I never knew this type of stuff existed. If so…tell me more.

My guess is that it’s Kenny Nolan going through the opening…Charlie and Frankie are there of course..can’t tell who else but rumor has it that Nick Massi contributed to this one. I also like the tempo of this version..seems a little faster than the recording.

    Nice work! A real treat!

  2. Nick Massi’s voice can be heard at the very end…beginning at 4.20.

  4. Wow!!!! What s great piece of seasons music history. All of their early 70′s material in my opinion is some of the best. Talk about moving with the times it has such a classic seasons sound with a up to date feel. To bad they didn’t have the right promo people behind them. Don’t get me wrong my eyes adored you is a great song but the material they recorded at Motown should have hit the charts.

I may have went off the subject, my apologies.
