Frankie Valli Reflects on Being a TV Mob Boss

April 6th, 2006

In the April 3, 2006 edition of People Magazine, superstar Frankie Valli talks to reporter Champ Clark about his role as Mob captain Rusty Millio on HBO’s “The Sopranos.” When asked if he’s more recognized by his role on “The Sopranos,” or his music, Valli says “both.” While taking a walk in NYC a few weeks ago, Valli said he was stopped six or seven times by people who wanted to talk about his appearance on the hit TV show, the smash hit Broadway musical, Jersey Boys, and the music business in general.

What about playing a mobster? Well, Valli stated that it’s not hard to play what you come from. Coming from Newark, NJ, where the show originates, Valli said he has known many guys like this. In fact, mobsters owned a lot of the clubs where Valli sang in the early days.

Valli’s next appearances on “The Sopranos” will take place on April 9 and 23. If you’d like to see a video clip of his March 12 appearance on the show, check out The Genuine Life Imitation Gazette.
