Frankie Valli’s New Recording Coming in October!

August 31st, 2007

Big news in USA Today on Frankie Valli!

Elysa Gardner reports that his story and songs fueled one of the most popular Broadway musicals in years, and now Frankie Valli is ready to reclaim the spotlight. On October 2, the 73-year-old original Jersey boy will release “Romancing the ’60s,” his first album since the Four Seasons’ 1992 release “Hope + Glory.”

“Romancing the ’60s” finds Valli revisiting a key decade in his career and covering other artists’ hits. The 13 tracks include old favorites such as “Spanish Harlem,” “My Cherie Amour,” “Any Day Now,” and a medley of “Groovin’” and “My Girl.” There also is a version of “On Broadway” featuring members of the original Broadway cast of Jersey Boys!

The album is produced by Bob Gaudio, who co-founded the Four Seasons and co-wrote their material. Gaudio states, “This is the album I’ve always wanted to make with Frankie. For me, (it has) his best vocals to date.”

  1. Ths is fantastic! Can’t wait to get this recording.

OFF THE TOPIC, please add your birthdates (NO YEAR) to the bulletin board topic. Trying to get as many as possible. “Very dramatic.”

  2. Yeah, I spotted this early this morning in USA Today too, Susie. I asked Bob Gaudio at “Journey to Jersey Boys” what the first release would be (I thought Frankie was leaning toward Chris Montez’s “Call Me”) and he said he didn’t know. “On Broadway” would be great, but it’s been a huge hit twice (for the Drifters and George Benson). Can’t wait to hear Frankie’s cover on Stevie Wonder’s “My Cherie Amour”.

  3. Frankie has been doing some of his new album material in some of his recent concerts. I heard him do “There is a Rose in Spanish Harlem” and it was fabulous. Looking forward to the release of the album.

  5. Can’t wait to get this cd! Isn’t this something, here Frankie is, in his 70′s and he’s on top all over again! With JB such a huge success and all the interest this show has generated, a whole new generation can appreciate Frankie and this incredible group. Sure makes me happy!

  7. Jari, Jim Petrecca, has loads and loads of autographed 4 Seasons and Jersey Boys items in his memorabilia store in Union, NJ, just a few yards from the bowling alley. Jim’s email is [email protected]. Just tell him what you’re looking for and I’m sure he’ll have it.
