Jersey Boys Incredible in Indianapolis!

June 15th, 2010

Another rave review for the JERSEY BOYS national tour in Indianapolis. Here’s a preview to Tom Alvarez’s review:

One could not help but notice all the aging baby boomers in the audience for a recent performance of Jersey Boys, now playing at the Murat Theatre until July 3, 2010.

It was no wonder, considering that the show, which documents the story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, highlights some of the most popular music of the 1960′s and was a soundtrack for those who came of age in that era. For many present, the music and lyrics from the Four Seasons repertoire no doubt recalled a simpler, more carefree time.

Playing to a wildly joyous crowd, the performers who played Frankie Valli, Bob Gaudio, Tommy DeVito and Nick Massi, kept the audience screaming, mouthing the lyrics, and clapping to songs that were immediately recognizable.

Based on the immediate, electrifying response of the audience each time the performers concluded a song, it was almost as if the original group itself was performing. Such was the impact of exceptional casting, direction, and staging of this national tour production.

  1. OK — I’m being picky as a 46x time watcher of Jersey Boys — but did this reviewer really write “Matt Bailey as TOM?”
