Jersey Boys Las Vegas, Thanksgiving 2012: Everything Was Copacetic!

December 10th, 2012

Thanksgiving, Las Vegas–2012: The JBB Tech Half’s mom & brother in town from Old Ohio. Family is everything–so a trip to JERSEY BOYS is in order, right? Sure, they’ve seen it before, back in Cleveland, 2008 and the crowd went wild!

So, why do it again? Well, picture this: During last year’s trip to Sin City, we thought they would enjoy the “Viva Elvis” Cirque du Soleil show. As the show was ending, Mom turned to me and said, “That was nice, but Bob Gaudio’s music is really more my style!”

Okay, bells were going off big time. My plan for Thanksgiving 2012: A tasty family Thanksgiving feast, followed by JERSEY BOYS at Paris Las Vegas! It could happen. It did happen. During intermission, I said, “Well, Mom, are you entertained?” She replied, “How can I not be? This MUSIC is fantastic and so are these actors! Even more fun than the time in Cleveland!”

As with every time we see the show here in town, each and every Vegas cast member gives 150%–and Thanksgiving night was no exception–with the hits, the dance moves (I think Travis and Deven may have a few new ones during the Big 3), and the delivery of lines–completely flawless. Of all the times at JERSEY BOYS–this was a first: Following “Working My Way Back To You,” when Frankie says, “Between me and Bob, we finally pay off Tommy’s debts, we’re free and clear. Everything’s copacetic.”–never, ever have we seen the audience break into applause, but they did on this magical night! Did they think this was the finale, ending on a high note?

This phenomenal cast took this audience on an emotional roller coaster and a musical ride that they won’t soon forget, with Travis Cloer’s stunning “Fallen Angel” followed by “Rag Doll” during the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction, and of course, the entire cast at the “Who Loves You” finale and the “Oh, What A Night” reprise!

**Thank you to Travis Cloer, Jeff Leibow, and Deven May for taking the time backstage to meet the family from Old Ohio!!**
