Jersey Boys Rocks at Fox!

May 17th, 2011

Critics all over St. Louis are singing high praises for the JERSEY BOYS national tour production at the Fabulous Fox Theatre. Here’s a sneak peak of the rave from Lynn Venhaus:

The potent mix of soaring harmonies, catchy pop hooks and crisp delivery bring Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons’ greatest hits to life in the dynamic “Jersey Boys.”

Number after musical number elicits goosebumps, which is why it’s still packing houses around the world, and a favorite of Fox theatergoers.

While the characters bring out an emotional connection, it’s all about the music. The invigorating recreation of live performances, such as on “The Ed Sullivan Show” stand out the most, culminating in one of the best musical finales of all-time. After the group is inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, they provide the epilogue of their lives. Then, with a horn section marching onto the second-story scaffolding, and a lively chorus joining the group, “Who Loves You” brings the house down.

This show is a pure adrenaline rush of great music combined with tight direction, rousing performances and a jolt of heart with the soul. Enjoying this musical with appreciative fans is the cherry on top of the sundae.
