May 25th: Performance #1000

While the number doesn’t compare to many of my Jersey Boys brothers around the world, my 1000th performance will be bittersweet due to my final bow with the Las Vegas company just days later on May 29th. I met many of you on this email list due to my association with the show and, while I hope I will join a Jersey Boys company again in the future, I also know that nothing is guaranteed.

Most of you on this list have read my book, know the ups and downs, and understand the reason I must return home to New York after these almost two years in Vegas. (If you haven’t read the book, I still have access to some leftover copies I can buy, personalize, and send to anyone you’d like for $16. Order one here.) But really, I just wanted to write to this particular list because each one of you have been kind to me in some way: meeting after a show, connecting during an interview, sharing a story about Frankie or Tommy. The only reason you are in this email grouping is because you’ve written me a nice thing somewhere along the way, so thank you for that. When I take the 1000th bow on May 25th, and when I take my last one on May 29th, I take all those kind words with me.

Two hours until showtime here in Vegas; gotta start the routine…

Until next time,

Daniel Robert Sullivan

  1. I certainly hope Dan will join another JB company! The only time I was lucky enough to see him portray Tommy was the last Toronto show … a night unlike any other! He stood out – even among a stage FULL of standouts. As soon as I heard he was starring in One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest, I had to head to Connecticut with friends Lulu and the ubiquitous Howard. He was so good, I made another 5 hour round trip a week later!

And that gift of his you can curl up with on a rainy night … the book “Places Please! (Becoming a Jersey Boy).” I loved it!! It’s got something for everyone. The day to day struggles and successes of a performing artist and teacher, the ins and outs of the Jersey Boys production machine & behind-the-scene insights, and of course a darn good love story! I have my signed copy and suggest everyone get at least one of their own. It’s a book you’ll read more than once.

I wish I could get to Vegas May 29th for a celebration of your run on that stage. I’m incredibly confident that your Tommy will reincarnate yet again to rave reviews, in a city perhaps closer to the Old Neighborhood.

Wishing you all the best and extending true gratitude for what you’ve always brought to the Jersey Boys family.

  2. Wow time flies. You will be missed in Vegas. I know it is hard to leave such an outstanding show and fantastic csst. Unfortunately we won’t be back before you leave. God speed in New York
I hope all goes well and you return to the JB family some day.

  3. Sending you a virtual standing ovation for Sunday, Daniel! I’ll be sure to track your talent going forward – hopefully including another Jersey Boys stage. It’s sure to be a memorable Memorial Day weekend for you!
