“My New York” Interview Featuring Sebastian Arcelus!

May 12th, 2008

In the latest “My New York” column on Broadway.com, Sebastian Arcelus picks his favorites all around New York. Below is a sneak peek into some of Sebastian’s recommendations:

What is your quintessential New York meal, and where would you eat it?
Pizza….but it’s gotta be “New York-style” pizza. Best in town: Famous Joe’s Pizza on the corner of Carmine and Bleecker. The line alone will explain it all.

What is your favorite neighborhood and why?
Tough one… Currently, I’d have to say Harlem as it’s become our new home. Generally, I’d say the West Village since it’s the only area of Manhattan where I get lost and yet somehow always end up at Magnolia Bakery.

Is there something you’ve always wanted to do New York, but have not yet accomplished?
Driving without cursing.

  1. My gosh, Sebastian, another Mets’ fan? 1962–I’m sure long before you were even a thought—my year with both “Meet the Mets” and “Sherry”. A Mets’ ticket stub from the Polo grounds for $2.50 and a Four Seasons ticket stub for $3.00? Kiner’s Korner? Marvelous Marv? Roger Craig? Jim Hickman? Ron Hunt? Ron Swoboda? What memories, man.

But, Sebastian, c’mon….the very best restaurant in all of New York is right in your vicinity…Amy Ruth’s on 117th Street..the greatest southern cuisine ever and plenty of food

There are only two in the world that come close…”The Original Pantry” on 9th and Figueroa in LA (a favorite of Jen Naimo and husband Tim) and the Carnegie Deli right around the corner from the August Wilson. You and I need to talk, man!

Great interview, Sebastian, and thanks for remembering me at the stage door last week!!

  2. Continued success to “Jersey Boys”, the play is just spectacular.
So much to enjoy and such a great way to let us hold on to The
Four Seasons and their ageless music.
The Jersey Boys Bus tour is not to be missed. Congratulations
to Audrey Rockman and Walt Gollender for this “not to be missed”
compliment to New Jersey! James Petrecca of “Yesterday’s Treasures”
lets us all take home some of this great nostalgia. A great investment.
Thank you to all of you!
