Actor Paul Dano Turns Down Jersey Boys Movie to Join Jackman & Gyllenhaal in ‘Prisoners’
October 10th, 2012Just the other day, I wondered why there hasn’t been a peep about the JERSEY BOYS movie in the press lately. In my usual daily routine, I just went to my JB news page and found some news on Broadway.com: Lindsay Champion reports that Paul Dano was offered a role in the forthcoming Jersey Boys film, but the Broadway vet won’t be crooning “Sherry†on the big screen anytime soon, according to Deadline.com. The good news? Dano passed in favor of another role, starring opposite Les Miserables’ Hugh Jackman and If There Is I Haven’t Found It Yet hunk Jake Gyllenhaal in the new film “Prisoners.” There is no word at this time on which part Dano would have played in Jersey Boys, or if other actors have been approached for the film.
Dano has appeared on Broadway in A Free Man of Color, Inherit the Wind and A Month in the Country. His film and TV credits include Little Miss Sunshine, There Will Be Blood, The Girl Next Door, Cowboys & Aliens, Looper, Ruby Sparks, Being Flynn and Where the Wild Things Are.
Truth is, before reading this scoop that mentioned his credits, I didn’t really know much at all about Dano, other than the fact that his last name ends in a vowel! Do you think he would have been a good choice for one of the Four Seasons?
Looks like the dashing Jake Gyllenhaal won’t be cast in JB as well, considering he’ll be starring in the “Prisoners” movie with Dano.
Sounds like JERSEY BOYS movie casting is definitely underway! Any speculations?

Well, when I saw that Paul went for Prisoners instead I figured maybe he’s good at portraying the swagger of Tommy, but then in the photo, I could see him as Bob. Either way, it’s disappointing that with the vast talent already displayed on JERSEY BOYS’ stages … I’ll stop there; too soon to comment.
I’m quite optimistic, actually. I trust they’re considering names which end with a consonant too. Thanks so much for keeping us posted on the latest news!

I am hoping that they are considering john lloyd young for the role of frankie valli. He has shown that he is the best choice for frankie valli. He has proven to be better than ever during his return to broadway this past summer.
John deserves to be in the movie since he has won the tony and other awards :for portraying Frankie on broadway!!!!!!!
Hoping they do the right thing.
