Baby Boomer Reawakens to the Four Seasons Through Jersey Boys

June 19th, 2006

Picture this–being stuck in Hawaii for a conference presentation–when you’d rather be updating your blog–just days before the Tony Awards. Yeah, I admit it–I would have rather been updating the Jersey Boys Blog, instead of attending the first night of conference activities.

Prior to the evening’s conference reception, some colleagues suggested we meet for cocktails. Well, I said, “Yeah, sure, but it’ll have to be in my hotel room, ’cause I’m not about to miss Frankie Valli on ‘Entertainment Tonight’.” Since these colleagues knew about the Jersey Boys Blog, they appeared amused, and agreed to have cocktails during “ET.”

Well, sure enough, Frankie Valli was on “Entertainment Tonight,” talking about his phenomenal career, and the hit Broadway musical, Jersey Boys.

As “ET” played the early hits of the Four Seasons, followed by clips of Jersey Boys, a baby boomer colleague turned to me and said, “Why the hell didn’t you tell me this story was about the guys who sang ‘Sherry’ and ‘Walk Like a Man’? These guys were the greatest group EVER!”

This is just one example of the many fans that are rediscovering the music of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons via the Tony Award-winning musical, Jersey Boys.
