  7. So happy he got the role! He is the ONLY “Frankie”!! From Danny Saunders in The Chosen at the old Coconut Grove Playhouse to Frankie Valli on the big screen, John Lloyd Young’s career is going to soar! So happy for him and his fans!

  8. Is the role 100% confirmed as JLY’s? Not having seen him perform, I just checked him out on You Tube and still feel that Ryan Molloy is the man to play Frankie. That face – those eyes – that smile – that VOICE! He oozes charm and charisma and I believe he is also thought to be Frankie Valli’s personal favourite.

  9. According to newspaper reports, Ryan Molloy is a personal favourite of Frankie Valli and very much deserves the lead role. My fingers are still x’d for Mr Molly.

  10. It is surely every singer’s dream to perform alongside the legendary Barbra Streisand, so when Ryan Molloy was asked to join her on stage just hours before she was due to appear for the London leg of her European tour, he couldn’t believe his luck. Streisand, 71, had been let down by classical trio Il Volo, who were due to sing the finale with her. The diva’s stage manager Richard Jay-Alexander called his old friend Molloy, who for the last five years has starred as Frankie Valli in the West End hit Jersey Boys, and begged him to fill in.

Good enough for Babs – then surely good enough for Clint!

  11. Only John lloyd Young should play Frankie in the movie – he is a more believable Frankie because he is American, with Italian roots like Frankie and he has perfected the Jersey accent, moves and character needed for the role.

  12. Ryan M began his training in Newcastle receiving a drama honours degree, which took him to LA (where he perfected the American accent)and then to London. His awesome voice as well as his portrayal as Frankie is the closest to the man himself, as Mr Valli has praised and acknowledged. Good luck Ryan – still rooting for you.

Ryan Molloy to Play Lead in Jersey Boys Movie?

According to the Daily Mail, Ryan Molloy who is playing Frankie Valli in the London production of the musical Jersey Boys, could be cast in the lead role of the movie being directed by Clint Eastwood.

Ryan is the longest serving Frankie in the world and was hand picked by the original Frankie Valli for the West End show with him saying he is the best Frankie he has seen.

The producers of the film saw him perform and were so impressed they requested acting footage and invited him to meet them at the Dorchester.

Christopher Walken has been cast as Angelo “Gyp” DeCarlo – the mobster who takes Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons under his wing. With John Lloyd Young, Erich Bergen and Michael Lomenda (all of whom have appeared in stage productions of the show) in talks for the movie with Boardwalk Empire star Vincent Piazza expected to play Valli’s foil, Tommy DeVito

Jersey Boys is set to begin filming in London in September.

  14. Jared Spector is the best actor/singer and would translate to film more successfully

    Comment by Sheila — August 4, 2013 @ 11:38 pm

  15. Just viewed Jared Spector and John Lloyd Young on You Tube. I am all for Ryan Molloy being awarded the part of Frankie and my thoughts are he and Jared sound quite alike whereas I felt John (although having a great voice) does not sound that similar to Frankie Valli himself. (Only my personal opinion everyone!)Good luck to them all as it will be a brilliant role to play, though my hopes and loyalties lie with Ryan.
