Brickman & Elice To Write Broadway-Bound “The Addams Family”

Variety.com reports that The Addams Family, a new large-scale tuner based on the cartoons of Charles Addams aims to hit the Rialto in the 2009 -10 season! The big news for Jersey Boys fans–Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice will provide the book!

Produced by Chicago-based Elephant Eye Theatrical, the musical will be capitalized at more than $10 million, according to Elephant Eye producer Stuart Oken. Along with Brickman and Elice, the creative team consists of composer-lyricist Andre Lippa (The Wild Party), who will write the score; Phelim McDermott, who will be director; and Julian Crouch, who will be designer.

The creative team recently met for 12 days in Gotham to hammer out the initial outline, and Oken hopes to have a reading of a first draft by March or April 2008. “Addams” will premiere out of town before heading to Broadway.
