Celebrity Sighting at Jersey Boys: Michael McGlone!

March 5th, 2008

By Howard Tucker, Jersey Boys Blog Special Correspondent

On Saturday, March 1, actor, singer/songwriter, and author Michael McGlone (www.michaelmcglone.com) was a guest of Fantastic Fans Pamela Singer and Howard Tucker for the evening performance of Jersey Boys.

The Actor
Since his critically acclaimed debut as Patrick in Ed Burns’ masterpiece “The Brothers McMullen.” Michael has gone on to illustrious careers in TV and film, music, literature and stand-up comedy.

In addition to “McMullen”, Michael starred in the films “She’s the One” with Jennifer Aniston and Cameron Diaz, “Subway Stories” with Rosie Perez, “Hard Ball” with Keanu Reeves, “One Tough Cop” with Stephen Baldwin, and “Dinner Rush” with Danny Aiello, as well as “The Bone Collector” where he played Angelina Jolie’s dedicated detective colleague alongside Denzel Washington and Queen Latifah.

In the world of TV, Michael most recently was the by-the-book Deputy Police Chief Nolan Abrami in Spike TV’s 2007 serial drama “The Kill Point,” now on DVD. He has also made appearances on “Law and Order,” “SVU,” “That’s Life,” and “HACK.”

The Singer/Songwriter
Michael has released two critically acclaimed albums, “Hero” and “To Be Down,” with all original material. He performs his music regularly in cabaret in Manhattan, usually at “The Triad” on 72nd Street. He has also performed live on “Fox and Friends,” the morning show on Fox-TV.

Michael and our Christian Hoff, both talented guitarists and songwriters, spent considerable time backstage reviewing their preferences for original material and musical instruments. Unbeknownst to all of us, Christian has written ten original songs, which we hope he’ll perform at his next cabaret. Perhaps a duet with Michael is in the works somewhere down the road.

The Writer
Michael is the renowned author of three novels, And All the Roses Dying, Hourigan’s Song, and Dice. He is presently working on his fourth, CAI, a story of two brothers, murder, and intrigue in New Haven, CT. He has also written much poetry and many short stories.

The Stand-Up Comic
September 12th, 2007, Michael was the first non-comedian to perform as part of the Comedy Covers Series, of the Breuer Unleashed Sirius Satellite Radio Show. Hosted by Jim Breuer and Pete Correale, the highly unique format brings comics to the stage to perform the works of other comedians, either as themselves, or some celebrity. As part of the most recent event, Michael hilariously performed the comedy of George Carlin…as Christopher Walken.

Unlike Michael’s Fantastic Fan hosts, Saturday was his inaugural viewing of Jersey Boys. He immensely enjoyed his visit after the show backstage with stars Christian Hoff, Michael Longoria, Jennifer Naimo, Sebastian Arcelus, and Heather Ferguson, all of whom had seen and admired Michael’s work over the last two decades. Michael, is Broadway next for you??

  4. Sounds like a very nice evening for all; I hope Michael, obviously a man of diverse skills, comes back to the August Wilson again soon.

How interesting that Christian has written 10 original songs!! That was a meeting of some very creative talent backstage, I’d say.
