Dominic Scaglione, Jr. Will Serve as Grand Marshall at East Hanover Italian American Club’s Columbus Day Parade on October 9!
October 6th, 2011The 7th Annual Morris County Columbus Day Parade 10th Anniversary Tribute to 9/11, Broadway Star Among Notable Honorees
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, East Hanover, NJ–The East Hanover Italian American Club, sponsors of the Morris County Columbus Day Parade, has dedicated this year’s parade to those who made the ultimate sacrifice on September 11, 2001.
Members of the New York City Fire Department and Port Authority Police will escort a replica of the Twin Towers down Ridgedale Avenue in East Hanover. Engine 343, a memorial apparatus named in honor of the 343 New York City Firefighters who lost their lives on 9/11, will also join the parade.
The Marine Corps Reserve Band will lead the parade.
The Polizia di Stato (State Police of Italy) will also be on hand, along with the New York Jets cheerleaders. Many Fire and Police Departments from around New Jersey will participate, as well as various social and civic organizations.
This year’s outstanding Italian-American honorees include Dominic Scaglione, Jr., who plays Frankie Valli in the Broadway Tony Award-winning musical “Jersey Boys” and will serve as Grand Marshall. Paul Santucci, COO of Wealth Management Advisory Group, is Man of the Year. Maria Lupo, healing arts specialist for Atlantic Health System, is Woman of the Year. Bobby Wells, band leader for The Infernos, has been named Humanitarian of the Year for his charitable efforts for the earthquake victims in L’Aquila, Italy. Joe DiRocco, Seattle Mariners minor league pitcher, is Italian-American Athlete of the Year.
The parade’s mistress of ceremonies will be Lisa Marie Latino of Long Shot Productions.
Press opportunities will be made available at the parade, and also at the dinner dance at Hanover Manor on October 7, where the Twin Towers replica will be on display.
