In the words of Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice, “Sometimes it just clicks with people.” When we reminisce over the last eight years in JERSEY BOYS, that line may be an understatement to Dominic Scaglione, Jr.’s performances on stage as Frankie Valli in Vegas, Chicago, and Broadway! Not just on stage, but off-stage, during his JBB EXCLUSIVE interviews, and during our many stage door chats, Dominic was always the real deal–a warm, authentic, true Jersey boy–with a heart of gold!

It’s a “Sunday Kind of Love” in “the old neighborhood” right now, as the JBB Tech Half and I think back to the first time we had the honor of seeing Dominic in the Frankie role in our old neighborhood, yes, on Dale’s birthday, back in August, 2008 at the Palazzo Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. We had already heard from JB fans that the new young guy who played the late show “Frankie” twice each week was really great, but we never expected such an unforgettable, ‘OMG, this kid is the REAL deal’ kind of experience on that 100-degree evening in the desert! The Tech Half said it best, in his post-birthday extravaganza JB Blog post: “I thought he had a very powerful, clear voice and hit every note perfectly. He shows a wide range of emotions in his scenes, having fun with the group’s rise to success, and his voice actually started to crack a little with his acceptance into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.”

As Dominic takes his final bow in the Frankie Valli role this afternoon at the August Wilson Theatre in JERSEY BOYS, we think back to his stunning and flawless vocals, and emotional roller coaster ride as a young, eager vocalist, to the loyal older pop star who continued to chase the music, trying to get home.

Thank you, Dominic for your constant generosity, graciousness and kindness to your large fan base, and for your constant support of Jersey Boys Blog!

We wish you continued success in your future endeavors with The Doo Wop Project and all of the other “infinite possibilities” (wow, another Brickman & Elice line) that are sure to come your way! #Ride!

We would love for Jersey Boys Blog readers to share your Dominic Scaglione, Jr. memories and your well-wishes!

  1. In my personal opinion this is the saddest moment for Jersey Boys to date. Dominic is, in my opinion, the best and most authentic Frankie ever in the show. This is my favorite musical of all time and Dominic is my favorite Frankie of all I have seen. I first saw him as Frankie in the Chicago cast of Jersey Boys in August of 2009, and from the moment he came out for Silhouettes, I was hooked! He was charismatic, original, and absolutely mesmerizing…and the effect he had that day has never faded! And when I met him outside after the show that night he was just as sweet and genuine as he was talented on stage! In total I was fortunate enough to see him as Frankie 13 times, and one of those times even get a backstage tour of the August Wilson! The memories I have of him will last a lifetime and I’m so grateful for the wonderful memories he gave me! I so wish I could have made it to NY for his final show today, I know he will be flawless as always!

  2. Well it looks like my comment I posted earlier was deleted :’( and I don’t have the time right now to re-write it unfortunately. But in my opinion, Dominic is hands down the best Frankie that Jersey Boys ever cast! So this is the saddest day in Jersey Boys history as far as I’m concerned. His talent, charisma, authenticity, vocals, and his genuine personality cannot be matched. I first saw him as Frankie in August of 2009 with the cast in Chicago. He was absolutely mesmerizing and I was instantly hooked! I have been fortunate enough to see him as Frankie 13 times and even get a backstage tour of the August Wilson from him on one of my multiple vacations to NYC. He has given me memories to last a lifetime, and I wish him all of the best and know he will be absolutely incredible in any and all of his future endeavors.

  4. I had family in from Florida this weekend and got tickets to see JB on Friday night. I got to see Dominic for the first time as Frankie. I thought his performance was great and he added his own style to the role.
He greeted me and the family at the stage door Friday night and was so kind to all of us. He took pics with us and signed playbills.
Dominic all the best to you and I thank you for your kindness and a great performance!

    All The Best,
    Dee
