  1. I am a huge 4 Seasons fan, always have been ( 50 plus years and counting ) and the one time they are on TV for 2 hours, I miss most of it. Got home late. What I did get to see was terrific.
Did anyone get to see the entire show? Do you think it will air again soon? Did anyone get to record the show? It is great to see Frankie finally get the respect he so deserved over the years

  2. Great Show. Hope a DVD will be available to buy.
I noticed Opus 17 and Stay were cut. Also, Let’s Hang On was cut short. Tell It To The Rain was a good addition to the show.

  4. I am so pissed I missed this show. I have loved Frankie as far back as I can remember, and his resurgence, due to Jersey Boys, is such a blessing for all his fans. I have been a devout JLY fan since first seeing him last July and I sometimes forget (because I absolutely love JLY, his acting and singing) that his role as Frankie is really all about the one and only Frankie Valli. I hope I get to see this entire show through a repeat or any other means b/c he sounds damn good! That unique Valli sound is so prominent with the very first note. God Bless Mr. Valli and thanks for continuing to entertain for so many years.

  6. I could not see the whole show. I will buy a DVD from anyone that has it available, please let me know! I love Frankie Valli and the Jersey Boys. I wish they had shows like this more often, it felt like I was in Heaven.

  7. I wish I could have been there! I was so fortunate to see Frankie Valli here in Atlanta, twice this year… in June and in September. If he comes back, I will be there again. He puts on such a great show. What a legend!

  8. A couple things I do miss in live versions of “Tell It To The Rain” are the rich unison violins from the second chorus on and the bowed staccato bass violin at the end of the studio production.

  9. My earlier post disappeared. I saw the whole show on Sunday — and even better was there when it was done on the 25th. It was fantastic and I was trying to keep track of the time — and thought that Frankie did about two hours of material. The “edit” of Sunday’s show without commercials is an hour and 20 minutes — so several things were cut.

One bonus for those at the concert was that after the show, Frankie and the band returned to the stage and did the medley of “Sherry,” “Walk Like a Man,” and “Big Girls Don’t Cry” a second time.

It was fantastic. It is reportedly going to be on the “Style” cable network – an hour version — on November 30 (10 a.m.) – December 5 (2 p.m.) – December 13 (10 a.m.) — Doesn’t say but I’d assume those are CST.

I’ve recorded and did a quick edit — hoping to share it with some of cast in Chicago.

  10. I agree Ted. I must say that when the original 4 Seasons (of Frankie, Joe, Bob, and Tommy) did “Tell It To The Rain” live on stage back in the ’60s it was remarkable how close they got to instrumentally recreating the recording with Tommy, of course, recreating his guitar parts live, and Bob doing his best to substitute for the other sounds on the organ. They also threw in some thunder sound effects which is remarkable since we are talking about the technology of 40 years ago. And with that rockin’ bridge, “Tell It To The Rain” was probably the song they had to work the hardest on. It was remarable how the original 4 Seasons, 3 really since Frankie didn’t play an instrument, were able to instumentally recreate (as well as vocally of course), the sound on the record.

  11. The show will be re-broadcast on the Style Network

  12. David, another interesting part in the studio version of “Tell It To The Rain” that you might have noticed is the xylophone, which is duplicated by the guitar in the introduction of “My Eyes Adored You”. Bob Crewe and Kenny Nolan did a great job connecting the new to the old from that Petrillo/Cifelli composition.

  13. Oh boy, Mr. Valli sounds GREAT!

  14. International Figure skating Magazine has a re-broadcast listed on USA Network November 30th 10-11 AM, December 5th 2-3 PM, and December 13th 10-11 AM…hopefully since there is just an hour time slot, this means no commercials!

  15. Thanks for the info on the re-broadcast.

How strange, my post from earlier today disappeared too. Weird.

  16. The Trubute on Ice show was incredible and Frankie has still got it! The show I caught on TV somehow mixed him low and he was often drowned out by the bu vocalists and band… I had to strain to hear him.
If they press it to DVD I hope they do a better mix.
    Keep on keepin on, Frankie!

  17. I just can’t get enough of this video! My wife and I did catch the initial broadcast on WNBC this past Sunday afternoon in its entirety, and the both the songs and skating were performed magnificently. Frankie Valli sounded fantastic throughout the program! And I especially enjoyed this number; the outfit Ms. Shea-Lynn Bourne wore was absolutely perfect for the song. Very enjoyable!! Thanks for posting this on the JBB and You Tube, Susie and Dale.

  18. Was at the live show and once again, Frankie Valli does not disappoint. What a concept to have “Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons” preforming a concert while an ice show is going on! Have been a fan of his since I was five. There is no better entertainer in the business today! Each time I see him he always delivers! It would be great if they released the entire concert on DVD, including the bonus of Frankie’s encore! The voice was as strong as ever! Frankie, you rock!!!

  19. I agree that this concert should be released on dvd.
I’ve been playing the videos that Frank Rovello was nice enough to post on the GILG wesite. The sound quality is fabulous. Stereo! Robby’s arrangements always keep these dated songs fresh and alive. I would love to, at least, get these as MP3 files and pop on to my ipod. The sound quality is that good!

The Dawn intro was melodic, powerful, inventive and just a perfect opening for Frankie.

Also wonderding if Stay and Opus 17 were actually performed and if so, would they be available.

    Comment by Ray — November 7, 2008 @ 8:34 am

  20. I know Opus 17 was performed — and pretty sure that Stay was as well (I didn’t write down songs as they were performed). But the performance time (on TV was only 1:20) — was definitely cut a bit. Frankie didn’t talk much but his performance time was still very close to 2 hours, so I’m guessing both songs were performed. I too hope they make it on a DVD that I’m also hoping makes it — hope the folks that matter on that issue are seeing our responses.

  21. Frankie Valli and the four seasons on ice was terrific. All the songs were great. The Jersey Boys are HOTTT!!!! Especially the one on the far left with the dark hair and great smile. I really hope to see them in concert soon. Would really like to see this on DVD. My dad gave me my first CD of yours when I was 13 he liked the fact that you made up a song called Sherry. I love that song. Keep up the good work Frankie and the four seasons you are awesome!!!!!!!!!

and the Four Season’s at the ice show.
I saw Frankie Valli many years ago in Johnson City,
Tennessee and thought it was the best concert I had ever seen including Elvis !
I would love to see Frankie and the Four Season’s
one more time, will he ever come to Winston Salem,
NC ???? I love his voice and will always be a fan.

  23. In the Broadway play, the pizza marque uses the name Mario. It should be changed to Barney’s Pizza. I should know because Barney is 87 years old, is a full time realtor and works for my wifes company. He fed Frankie,Tommy and Nick when they first started out before even Sherry was recorded.According to Barney,Tommy borrowed and crashed his car.Nick played cards with Barney after leaving the group.Tommy and Joe Pesce played golf with Barney at least 10 years ago.Its been at least 45-50 years.Recently Barney told me he would love to see Frankie again.Any chance something can be arranged?
