Frankie Valli’s Views on Jersey Boys Coming to Vegas!

December 6th, 2007

Las Vegas Sun reporter Jerry Fink notes that Las Vegas crowds have a habit of sending Broadway musicals packing. Even The Producers will join the conga line that’s left Las Vegas in the past two years – Hairspray,Avenue Q and the Queen-based musical We Will Rock You, not technically a Broadway show but with Broadway attitude. But surely Jersey Boys- a musical about Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons – is a perfect production to staunch the flood of failure.

Fink recently talked with the legendary pop icon Frankie Valli about Jersey Boys’ big debut at the new Palazzo resort in early April.

“I’m looking forward to it,” Valli said. “I can’t tell you how big it will be. Hopefully it will do as well as it’s done everywhere else. It’s broken records in every theater it’s played.”

Jersey Boys covers the bad times as well as the good, conflicts and failures as well as tremendous success.

“It’s kind of an autobiography, a take by each guy on the development of the Four Seasons and what happened with the success of the group and what happened with the four guys and how they went on and how they broke up,” the Newark, N.J., native said from his home near Los Angeles. “It’s not a prefabricated story. It’s a true story. Each guy was interviewed. The writers came up with this conception, four different points of view.”

“It is incredibly gratifying to see our story onstage,” Valli said. “It started out in La Jolla (Calif.) as a workshop and it progressed from there. It looked so good that we had strong feelings that it would make it to Broadway, but I didn’t know it would do this well. I had a good feeling it would make it but I never thought it would be as big as it is.”

  1. LA, Vegas, where ever the show is, it’s a hit! I saw it in LA with my Mom as a Mother’s Day present and I thought it was sensational. I sooooo love the music and now my 10 year old even knows the music.

I wrote a personal and spiritual post about “Who Loves You” on my blog. Check it out at lindalatta.com/blog/

    Thanks and Merry Christmas!

  2. Is there any reliable information as to which touring cast of Jersey Boys will play Las Vegas?

  3. James: Des McAnuff said before curtain of the current cast at the Curran that this is the Vegas cast, and with a few exceptions that’s pretty much the case.

But at any rate, it’s NOT a tour. The production in Vegas will be unique to Vegas — in both cast and content.
