Friday Flashback: The Four Seasons’ Mid ’60′s “Things Go Better with Coca-Cola” Jingle!

August 19th, 2011

“Swing The Jingle” was an ambitious mid ’60s Coca Cola advertising project. The idea was to have the pop and soul artists of the day sing the “Things Go Better with Coca-Cola” jingle. The song was always written and performed in the style of the particular performing artist so that young people would identify and want to drink Coke. Artists such as The Four Seasons, Tom Jones, Leslie Gore, The Supremes, The Drifters, Petula Clark, Ray Charles, and Roy Orbison were just some of the nearly 50 artists who sang on the Coke commercials. The commercials were so popular that listeners bombarded radio stations with requests to play them. In response, Coke bottlers distributed 60,000 special “Swing the Jingle” promotional records that featured artists from the radio and TV commercials.

Sorry to say that we haven’t yet found the actual Four Seasons TV commercial, but thought you would enjoy listening to the jingle. Does anyone have any details about the commercial featuring the Seasons?
