Friday Flashback: The Wonder Who’s Rendition of ‘On The Goodship Lollipop’

July 22nd, 2011

During the summer of 1966, The Four Seasons released their second single, “On The Goodship Lollipop” under the name “The Wonder Who.” The song peaked at #87 on Billboard’s Hot 100 and remained on the chart for three weeks.

“On the Goodship Lollipop” was from the 1934 movie “Bright Eyes” that starred Shirley Temple.

Now, for this week’s trivia question: In 1935, what singer peaked at #4 on the chart with this hit song?

  3. This version of the song never got its due. It had a great arrangement and Frankie imitating Nellie Lutcher and Rose Murphy both lounge singers showed great versatility with his voice.
