Good News about JLY!

September 9th, 2006

On John Lloyd Young’s blog, he thanks voice doctor Jeffrey Libin, for getting to the bottom of a real mystery for him over the past few months. JLY has been diagnosed with acid reflux. Turns out, acid reflux is a problem for many singers and can cause sinus infections and a variety of other problems that can get in the way of a clear voice. JLY states it’s not always obvious you have it, but it’s very treatable.

Interestingly enough, last night, on ABC’s “20/20,” chart-topping superstar Lionel Richie talked about being faced with the threat of losing his most precious gift: his singing voice. For four years, he endured four surgeries to regain his voice, but the surgeries were unsuccessful. It wasn’t until Richie saw a holistic doctor, who diagnosed him with acid reflux, that he was able to sing again.

  1. So great to hear that they seem to have found the root of John’s voice problems. Hope he continues to improve and feel better….he’s such a great performer.
