Hairspray Film Star Amanda Bynes Wants a Role in Jersey Boys Movie
July 23rd, 2007USA Today recently interviewed three young actors from the hit film “Hairspray”–Nikki Blonsky, Amanda Bynes, Brittany Snow, and Elijah Kelley.
Amanda Bynes was asked: If she were to do another movie musical, which would she choose? Bynes said,
“I like Jersey Boys. There is a girl role, the one who falls for Frankie Valli.”
Wonder if she wants the role of Mary or Lorraine? There’s been lots of chatter as to which actors should play Frankie, Bob, Tommy, and Nick. What about the female roles? Any ideas?
I just saw Hairspray the day it opened. I really like Penny, and I thought the directors didn’t show enough of her…I don’t know.
I do like Amanda Bynes, and she has definitely grown up since her early days on All That. From that quote, I think she would like to play Lorraine, I think she could kind of pull it of, even though I would really like Erica to be in the movie, she is very convincing.
Oh, does any one know at what location Amanda Bynes has seen Jersey Boys?

YES, the origianl Broadway Jersey Girls – Jennifer, Sara, Erica and Heather – should be the actresses considered FIRST for the movie roles. If they’re unable to do the move for some reason, then the casting should be open to other actresses to audition or the roles. There are none better for the roles than the original girls!!

Sounds like she wasn’t paying attention hard enough to really care which role she gets.

You know, I could see her as Lorraine, not so much as Mary, but that’s what acting is and I think that if she got the part of either of one of them, I think she would be great.
It would be interesting if she did get involved with it and she was acting along side with JLY, Daniel, Bobby, and Christian. The perfect Jersey Boys movie would be to have the four of them in as Frankie, Bob, Tommy, and Nick.

Jackie Seiden should play Mary without a doubt. Her energy, looks, and pure talent puts her way above the rest

Josh, Maybe she could pull off Lorraine, but Mary Delgado was older than Frankie, “older” I don’t think she cold pull off. LEANNA – I totally agree!!!

I agree. The original four guys should be in the film if it ever happens. Personally, I REALLY don’t want a JB film. Part of the magic and the drama of the show is that is live on stage. If it were a film, it would just become another movie. I think she was talking about Lorraine which I guess I could see her doing. However, if they really were to do the movie I’d be first in line to audition for Lorraine! lol.

I have not been able to go to NY to see the Broadway production but I have watched every single JB clip on YouTube and on their website that I could find. I know it doesn’t come close to the seeing the original which is why I think making a Jersey Boys movie with the original JB’s (and Amanda) would be absolutely wonderful. There are many of us who won’t get a chance to see the original Broadway play because we live so far away. Making it into a movie would give us the opportunity to enjoy it like all those of you who have been fortunate enough to see it.

If she’s not willing to remember the name of the character she wants to play, she shouldn’t be cast.
At all.

Lauren,
Lol, if you will be first in line for Lorraine, I am definitely first for Francine!

Actually now that I think about it, the only part that I know she her doing is Francine. I think the parts of Lorraine and Mary should be done by older actresses.
Again I think that they should have JLY, Daniel, Bobby, and Christian for the movie and then surround them with name actors like Jack Nicholson as Gyp DeCarlo, umm Tom Hanks or John Travolta as Bob Crewe, Christopher Walken as Norm Waxman, I don’t know(The only one that I really hope for is Nicholson). Also, there should be cameos from Frankie, Bob, Tommy, Pesci, and Crewe.

I think she would be great as both Lorraine or Mary.

I believe Amanda could audition for the Mary Delgado part, but am wondering if she’s able to handle the “Jersey Language” that the movie would definitely have….. All the movies my sons have seen her in, her roles were that of “wholesome teen”.
I still think that these actors (based upon looks and similarity) would fit the “Four Season” mold if all four of the principal Broadway actors are not available…..
Frankie Valli – Jarrod Spector
Tommy DeVito – Christian Hoff/John Travolta
Bob Gaudio – Daniel Reichard/Tom Hanks
Nick Massi – Deven May

What made the movie the “Buddy Holly Story” so good was the fact that the actors playing the characters actually sang in the movie; there was no lip synching. I believe Gary Busey got an Academy Award nomination for his portrayal of Buddy Holly. My only “requirement” is that the actors have to sing and preferably play their respective instruments as well. No lip synching.

The original Broadway Four Seasons (John, Christian, Daniel, and J. Robert have to be cast in the movie. I can’t see Amanda Bynes playing Francine or Lorraine.

It would be nice if the cast from the NYC show could be offered the movie roles first, then the West Coast cast offered second. Perhaps al the characters could all be filled by these actors and actresses ! That would be Wild !! What an advantage they would have over anyone else…I think. ! It would personalize the show and make it so very , very unique. I truly think that the Tony Award Winners should have the Honor ! I would love to see it made into a movie. !! My mother is 84 and I would love her to see the show…and this would be the only way ! Great idea ! Besides….JLY would make a great Lead.

I would have to agree with all that say the orginal Broadway cast has to be in the movie. Who said Tom Hanks for Bob Gaudio? Maybe they meant Nick Massi?

I forgot to mention the Top Ten Hits on The Corny Show in Hairspray #1 My Boyfriends Back-The Angels #2 Big Girls Don’t Cry-The Four Seasons

I just suggested that Tom Hanks and Daniel Reichard would be great movie “Bob Gaudio’s”, especially by the way they look and closely resemble the real Bob. My suggestions were based upon “looks” compared to the real Four Seasons and not a slight on any of the touring and OBC casts. I’m sure that some people have their favorites based on which casts they only watched.
We in the West Coast have watched the OBC during nationally televised “teasers” and awards shows and appreciate what the LaJolla/Virginia/August Wilson cast has done for Jersey Boys, but if JLY goes to London and Christian decides to star in “Pal Joey”, that does not guarantee all OBC cast members in the JB Movie…..
I think that if any of the touring or OBC cast members do get picked for the movie, it will not be difficult for them to get used to the big screen, because most of them have that experience in front of the camera anyways. I hope it will happen soon!
