June 20th, 2007

Daniel Reichard
Jersey Boys Blog wishes a happy 29th birthday to Daniel Reichard!

Before starring as Bob Gaudio in Jersey Boys, both on Broadway and the La Jolla Playhouse, Reichard performed in several regional theatre productions, as well as Off-Broadway productions, such as Forbidden Broadway: 20th Anniversary Celebration, Radiant Baby, and The Thing About Men.

In addition to his work in theatre, Daniel is also a phenomenal concert singer! Enjoy his performance at “Rockers on Broadway–Jersey Style”!

  2. I have had the pleasure of seeing Daniel perform in Keansburg (Jersey-style), in Glory Daze at Joe’s Pub and in his ‘Christmas in Black & White’ show at the Metropolitan Room, (where I first met my old friend and new Hall of Famer, Howard Tucker!) as well as at Purim Shpiel and in the last two ‘Rockers on Broadway’. I don’t know about Daniel getting older, but somehow he continues to get even better! Happy Birthday, Daniel from ‘the Vig’

  3. Audrey, thanks for the kind thoughts, and Daniel, happy birthday! Yeah, ‘Christmas in Black and White’ was special: Daniel’s “Moon River” with the harmonica accompaniment still gives me goosebumps, and Bobby Spencer’s Bing Crosby was a hoot.

Your great pipes are indeed a gift, Daniel. I’d like to hear you sing Frankie’s “To Give” and Clyde McPhatter’s “The Great Pretender”, two songs which I think fit your voice perfectly. Enjoy the day, Daniel.

  11. Happy Birthday Daniel from your little friend Ella.

I must share this story with the Blog readers to show just what a special person this young man is. I made arrangements for a friend to see a Sunday matinee. My wife and I then took our little Crist and Ella to Central Park. We came back to August Wilson about 5:30 and as my friend was anxiously waiting for autographs after the show, I was standing off to the side with my little 4 year old Ella in my arms. She loves to sing and of course she has heard the cast CD many times. As Daniel was making his way down the line of autograph seekers and picture takers he spotted me and waived and heard Ella every so faintly singing “Big Girls Don’t Cry.” He came over to my little Ella, took her in his arms and began singing with her. You had to see the glow on my young daughter’s face. Truly priceless. Ella now tells everyone about Daniel “he’s my friend, he sings with me.” I had Daniel autograph the picture of them together. It sits on Ella’s dresser in her bedroom.

  12. David,
That is such a wonderful story. It is stories like yours that make me further believe that the cast of the show is so grateful.

Many happy belated birthday memories for you. I wish I knew early I would have sent you a card to the theatre. I’m sure it was a fun show and evening for you. How long will you now stay in the show.
