Frankie used to do “My Funny Valentine” in concert for many years…always a highlight…unfortunately he dropped it from the act in early 1968.

Thanks for that info, David…I meant to ask if anyone had ever heard Frankie sing this classic live in concert.
Usually, the JBB Tech Half will check out/listen to the various videos or photos that I post, but he actually seems intrigued w/Frankie’s rendition of “My Funny Valentine.” This morning, he said, “It’s so different for Frankie! Listen to those edgy horns!”

Frankie performed all the standards from his “Solo” album in concert…”My Funny Valentine,” “Secret Love,” and of course “My Mother’s Eyes.” Frankie’s live vocals were true to the arrangements on “Solo” but with less instrumentation in concert than in the recording studio. As depicted in Jersey Boys, horns weren’t added to the band until 1967. Bob Gaudio would replicate horns and violins on his organ. I always preferred the “in-concert” sound.
This is what the audience got in a 1960s 4 Seasons concert…Frankie solo with hits and album cuts, the 4 Seasons with hits and album cuts, and the comedy routines for which they were famous…and 2 hours later the audience was still yelling for more.
