Hartford Crowd Loves Jersey Boys!

Joanne Greco Rochman states that traditionally, standing ovations are given at the end of a show, but “Jersey Boys” brought a wildly excited crowd to its feet after Joseph Leo Bwarie as Frankie Valli sang “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You.”

It was spontaneous, well-deserved, and the first ovation of the evening. Completely winning over the Bushnell audience from the opening number “Ces Soirees-La (Oh, What a Night),” the story of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons is a show for all seasons. Each musical number received thunderous applause, cat whistles, and shouts from the jammed-packed house.

Bwarie’s falsetto is pitch-perfect; Josh Franklin’s polished performance makes Bob Gaudio shine through; Steve Gouveia plays Nick Massi as a patient guy who keeps it all in until he boils over, and Matt Bailey has enough charm to make bad boy DeVito likeable even after two-timing his friend and getting caught in illegal deals.

According to Greco Rochman, JB is one of the best musicals of the year, and you don’t want to miss it. Read the full review on the Republic-American website.
