Jersey Boys and Broadway Grosses Drop Due To Walkout

AP reports that the impact of the Broadway stagehands’ walkout became apparent in dollars and cents Tuesday as the League of American Theatres and Producers released its weekly box-office report. The results were obvious: dramatically lower grosses for the more than two dozen Broadway plays and musicals running an abbreviated schedule after they were shut down Saturday by Local 1′s contract dispute with the league.

Even with only five performances before the walkout, Jersey Boys dropped nearly $485,000 from the previous session and still managed an impressive $732,840 for five performances (and a 100.8% attendance rate). for the week ending November 11, 2007.

Total grosses for the week were $11,070,673 for the 34 shows on the boards for the week ending 11/11/07.
