Jersey Boys in the Library, Part 2

January 27th, 2009

Lied Library, UNLV

It could happen. It did happen. Another student in the library raved to me about JERSEY BOYS!

Picture this: Today at the library, following my presentation about library resources to a pretty cordial audience of undergrads, a smiling student came up to me. I was expecting a question about one of the mildly exciting resources, but instead, she said, “Excuse me, but before class began, and you were downloading your PowerPoint, I noticed your email said Jersey Boys Blog. Do you write for the blog? I read it ALL THE TIME!”

After I told the student that I run the blog with the Tech-Half, she said, “OMG, I can’t believe you run Jersey Boys Blog! I LOVE JERSEY BOYS!” She continued, “I came into the show figuring it would be good because the music is so great, but I came out feeling like I really got to know these guys and like I developed a relationship with each of the Four Seasons! Each guy told their own great story! JERSEY BOYS was amazing!”

  1. Susie, ya gotta be a little more like Donald Trump and start attaching your name to everything: i.e., “Susie’s Jersey Boys Blog”, “The Skarl Collection of Library Resources.” Come to think of it, the Donald might not make a bad Gyp DeCarlo. Maybe the real Gyp can advise the Donald how to make his Atlantic City casinos profitable!!

  2. I love this post, Susie! I can imagine that student’s excitement – here she is going about her business, and there you are! How random.

I can relate to her feelings after seeing the show, about feeling as if she knows these “guys”. I think that’s why I had such a hard time seeing a different cast than the first (OBC). They felt like imposters. Luckily I was able to get over it and enjoy the show :~)

  3. Cute story about that co-ed. Is she ready for the graduate course?
