The JERSEY BOYS national tour company is playing in Oklahoma City at the Civic Center Music Hall through Sunday, January 17. Review Rick Rogers is raving about the show. Check out a snapshot below:
But what makes “Jersey Boys” stand apart from its ill-fated siblings is the remarkable job Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice did in crafting a back story, one that shows how the real life problems of these rough-talking guys nearly derailed their onstage successes.
We learn about Valli’s mob connection and failed marriage, Tommy DeVito’s nearly insurmountable debts, Bob Gaudio’s sexual awakening and Nick Massi’s decision to walk away from the group after a few years.
Aaron De Jesus (Valli), Matthew Dailey (DeVito), Drew Seeley (Gaudio) and Keith Hines (Massi) do a stellar job portraying their celebrated counterparts, with fine contributions from Lauren Tartaglia and a very funny Barry Anderson as well.
