Jersey Boys Natl Tour Plays Sangamon Auditorium Through March 8; Check Out Previews to Press Coverage!
March 5th, 2014Through this Saturday, the JERSEY BOYS national tour is playing the Sangamon Auditorium in Springfield, Illinois! Check out some sneak peaks to press coverage below:
Dan Naumovich, The State Journal Register: Nicolas Dromard wasn’t cast in the role of Tommy DeVito in the musical, “Jersey Boys” because of a physical or vocal resemblance to the founding member of the Four Seasons, the band on which the musical is based.
“We’re not impersonators. We’re actors playing these characters in a show. Our director was very adamant about that. We have the essence of the characters. The music is the star of the show and the book is so well written that it sells itself,” said Dromard, a Canadian singer and actor.
The book contains the dialogue and dramatic structure of the story that plays out between musical numbers. Unlike other jukebox musicals (“Mamma Mia!”, “Movin’ Out”) where a thin dramatic arc connects a string of already popular songs, the strength of “Jersey Boys” comes through the telling of a story that is both true and, at times, unbelievable.
Springfield audiences can see how the story of the Rock and Roll Hall of Famers plays out when “Jersey Boys” comes to Sangamon Auditorium for seven performances starting Tuesday.
Rick Elice, who co-wrote the book with Marshall Brickman, said he initially found the idea of writing a musical on the life of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons to be ridiculous. He was familiar with their songs, but little beyond the music. Then he sat down with Valli and other original members, and the stories they told convinced him that “it was the stuff of great theater.” Click HERE to read the full story.

Just saw the Jersey Boys last night at the Sangamon. This is the third time for me to see the Jersey Boys play and it gets better every time! Fantastic job to the cast and crew! The music and story are timeless!
Thank you so much Frankie Valli and the 4 Seasons!
